Kilimanjaro Machame

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) at TBA, you will be warmly welcomed by your Patriot Tours guide. After a short meet-and-greet, you will be transferred to your accommodation in Moshi or Arusha, where you can relax and recover from your journey.

Distance: 11 km (~5–7 hrs). Terrain: Rainforest. The trek starts through lush rainforest with a steady ascent. The trail can be muddy and slippery, so trekking poles are helpful.

Distance: 5 km (~4–6 hrs). Terrain: Moorland. The trek continues with a steep ascent through moorland, leaving the rainforest behind. The trail offers breathtaking views of Mount Meru and the Shira Plateau.

Distance: 10 km (~6–8 hrs). Terrain: Alpine Desert. The trek heads toward Lava Tower for high-altitude acclimatization. The landscape changes to a barren alpine desert, and the climb becomes steeper.

Distance: 5 km (~4–5 hrs). Terrain: Rocky, Alpine Desert. The day starts with a climb up the Barranco Wall, a challenging but rewarding scramble. After reaching the top, the route descends into the beautiful Karanga Valley.

Distance: 4 km (~4–5 hrs). Terrain: Alpine Desert. The trek continues through a dry, rocky landscape with increasing altitude. Upon reaching Barafu Camp, trekkers prepare for the midnight summit push.

Distance: 17 km (~12–16 hrs total). Terrain: Arctic → Alpine Desert → Rainforest. The toughest and most rewarding day begins around midnight. Reaching the summit at sunrise provides a once-in-a-lifetime moment with breathtaking views.

Distance: 10 km (~3–4 hrs). Terrain: Rainforest. The final descent takes trekkers through the lush rainforest. Upon reaching Mweka Gate, climbers receive their summit certificates before being transferred back to Moshi.

After an incredible adventure on Mount Kilimanjaro, your journey comes to an end. Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your onward international flight.
